Agent 013 has over 15 centuries of experience illustrating everything from books (and their covers), theater posters, brochures and package designs, specializing in technical illustrations for Team Type-O-Rama. In addition to illustration work, Agent 013 also excels at fine art, spending time as a watercolorist and as an etcher. His art can be seen in galleries and art festivals around the San Francisco bay area and beyond.

Knowing the value of a classical education, Agent 013 holds a B.F.A. in Illustration and Animation from the Academy of Art College, a B.A. in Painting and Drawing from Arizona State University and has studied 3D and 2D animation, traditional etching, and figure drawing at Santa Rosa Community College.

Obsessively exploring the golden ratio in his sketchbook, Agent 013 can often be found in the far reaches of the world drawing and painting.

Agent 011 has been leading rescue missions for over 10 years across all areas of print and design. Dedicated to the details, she graduated from the University of Miami with a B.F.A. in graphic design and photography, and has reconnoitered up and down both the East and West coasts of the United States.

Currently enjoying the sun in San Diego, she combines her love of proper alignment and clean, modern designs with the motivation to build a more caring, supportive community.

Nashville native Agent 002 has worked in publishing for over 20 years, most recently as Editorial Production Manager at No Starch Press. As a developmental editor, copyeditor, and proofreader, she has turned the cryptic to the concise on everything from law textbooks to consumer research articles to children’s books, with her main areas of focus being technology and education. Her skills also include scheduling, project management, and feline asset herding (both figuratively and literally).

Agent 002 holds a B.A. in Language and Literature from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. In her spare time, she can be found training canine agents in the field, reading fiction, or watching true crime documentaries in order to make sure they got it right.

Agent 009 has over 20 years of experience as an indexer, developmental editor, and writer. She excels at considering all of the possible ways that readers try to find information, and works with authors to elevate the quality of their content and organization.

A published author, Agent 009 motivates serious writers to embrace the experience of completing their own books and encourage other writers. She has an M.A. in Spanish from Long Beach State University, a group-leadership credential from Amherst Writers & Artists, and a trophy case filled with the dangling participles of evildoers.

Agent 008 has two decades of experience in the graphics, publishing, and printing fields. Widely valued as a problem-solver, his alchemical talents are matched only by his ability to function well under pressure. Prior to setting up his lab at Headquarters, the Alchemist mixed potions for The Designory Inc. and AutoGraphics, among others.

Agent 008 holds a B.S. in Multimedia Design from Mt. Sierra College in Monrovia, California, where he is also an adjunct professor.

Agent 006 has been working in publishing for over 20 years. He has worked on projects that include bibles, calendars, children’s products, corporate identities, production automation, and web sites. Agent 006 also juggles teaching digital imaging with his duties as bass player in the Buffalo Blues Band.

Agent 006 jumped through his first flaming hoop at the University of Redlands, where he earned a B.A. in Photography and Fine Art and where he’s adjunct faculty in the art department.

Hailing from Boston, Agent 005 joined the wagon train and headed West, where she has rustled up over 25 years of experience working the vast expanses of magazine and book publishing. Specializing in design and layout, and handy with a fountain pen, Agent 005 is currently working undercover at the highest levels, creating book templates, setting pages, and optimizing image files. Rumor has it she occasionally steps in at command central, but that information is unverifiable.

Agent 005 holds a B.A. in English and a B.F.A. in Printmaking from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. During the past number of years she has been spotted honing the time-honored art of bookmaking at the San Francisco Center for the Book.

Agent 004 has worked in web and print publishing for decades, from copyediting and compositing national magazines and journals, to coding websites for organizations large and small. After 8 years battling in New York City, the machine-turned-man absconded to a quiet lair in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he cultivated his inner hippie, learned to relax and broadened his beer horizons.

But a machine at rest is just a chunk of lead, so he packed up his techno-luggage and moved to sunny San Diego, where there’s less chance of rust. From his new HQ, Agent 004 seeks the seamless conversion from print to web—a bright future where books are both paper and pixels, and an android can dream in both code and verse.

Beneath his metal armor beats the heart of a poet, having earned his B.A. in English at the University of Redlands, and his M.F.A. in Poetry from UC Irvine.

Agent 003 provides full support to his fellow crack agents, separating the wheat from the chaff. Though coaxing him from behind his books can prove a challenge, he can edit, compose, design, write and proofread, but most often lends his talents to idea generation and copywriting. In other words, The Professor excels at finding the right word, right now. A published poet, Agent 003 can be found teaching poetry and composition at University of California, Berkeley.

The Professor holds a B.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Redlands, as well as an M.F.A. in Poetry from Saint Mary’s College of California. He was previously production manager of the Claremont Courier and a very unhappy employee of the Los Angeles Times.

Agent 012 has been beguiling the publishing world for 20 years, working for publishers from around the world. Beneath her cool exterior lurks the fierce Tamer of Dragons who manages multiple projects simultaneously like the multiheaded dragon she keeps as a pet. Coordinating varied missions without a hitch, she speaks in soothing dragon tongue to project managers, authors, designers, and proofreaders ensuring that schedules are always met. Enemy agents marvel at her inscrutable ability to handle complicated projects under tight deadlines, not only producing the treasured goods when needed but exceeding all expectations in quality and clarity.
